Our newest addition Baby Shannon is here! She was born July 4th at 7:54am. She weighed 7lbs. 1 oz. and was 20 1/4 inches long. She is so sweet and we love her dearly! Evan is loving his baby sister! We are so thankful! We are enjoying our sweet children!

I can't believe how time has flown!! Evan has gotten so big so fast! He is our cute little boy that is learning so much so fast! He never seems to stop amazing us with his words! He is also very cute with his soon to be baby sister! He gives my tummy kisses and says hi to her often. We are eagerly anticipating her arrival July 5th. We look forward to becoming a family of four! I will update soon with new pictures of the two kids. :)

It's hard to believe that it's been a month since I last updated the blog! A lot has been going on! At the end of Aug./beginning of September Grandpa Bill went to the hospital and needed a new Aortic Valve. Needless to say we have been going back and forth between Brea and the San Diego/Oceanside area a lot this month. Grandpa has needed lots of get well hugs and smiles from Evan! They are very therapeutic. :) Bill is doing remarkable! We praise God for his goodness! We are so thankful for all of our friends and family that have helped out, encouraged and most importantly prayed for us! We are so thankful for all of you!

Evan has been very busy too! None of this has slowed him down. He has been learning how to walk whereever he is. At the hospital he was pushing around chairs and at home he was pushing around his truck! He has recently figured out how to balance without either! It has been fun to watch him 'toddle' around! It seemed like it would be a long time before I had a toddler! His speach is constantly developing. It seems that his favorite thing is still Horse! He loves his animal sounds and the animals too! He makes fun sounds when he loves something he's eating and smiles a ton! We are continually blessed by this little guy! Evan is going to get a hair cut soon, so I will post the pictures and video as soon as it all goes down!

This summer is flying by and we have had so many fun things going on! Evan is also growing and learning so much each day. We have finally edited the birthday video so that I can post a few little clips of Evan and his cake. I forgot to post his stats from his one year check up too! Evan was 31 inches tall and 19 lbs. 4.5 oz. The doctor told me that I could not turn Evan's car seat around until he is 20 lbs. and that may not be until he is 14 months! He showed me Evan's weight chart. Evan is doing really well. He is healthy, tall for his age and his vocabulary is advanced. The doctor was very impressed with him. First word out of Evan's mouth was horse. Shocker!

Evan's current favorite words: Horse, Mom-mom, Mama (for daddy or mommy :) ), yes, noi, noi noi (no no no), no, mmmmm (moo for the cow), woof (for dog), Nyan (Ryan), bloon or boon (balloon), bir (bird), more, wawer (water), ba (ball), baa baa (the sheep says...), onk (the pig says oink), emo(elmo), O's (the name of his favorite cereal), nana (banana), blewbr (blueberries), wamen (watermelon), whas tha (what's that? he'll point at an object)

Last Wednesday Evan took his first 3 independent steps to Dan. Super fun. He hadn't taken any other steps until today when he took 2 steps to Auntie Michelle. He's getting it here and there. We'll see if he's walking by the time we leave for Maui! (Sept. 18th)

Evan is also waving to everyone coming and going. Mostly if he thinks you are leaving. He also points and laughs at people thanks to Grandpa R. They do it to each other, but Evan does it to everyone passing by. It makes for good times in the grocery store. :)

It is hard to believe that our little guys is already 1 year old! This year has flown by! We have enjoyed every day of every month with him. Evan is not quite walking on his own yet, but will walk along furniture and if he is holding your fingers. He is a quick little crawler! He loves to eat! He loves bananas, blueberries, watermelon, sweet potatoes, carrots, chicken, fish, garlic, yogurt, o's and a ton of other stuff! He loves to look at books! He loves the horse!! He says "Horse" hundreds of times a day! He can moo for the cow and woof for a dog. He can say wawer and sign water too! He says fis and signs fish too! He says boon for balloon and now points at things and says whats that! He amazes us constantly! He truely has been a blessing from the Lord! We love and adore this little man.

I will post more on his stats today. We are going to the Dr. for his 1 year check up this afternoon. I will also try to post more birthday party pictures when I get them.

A lot has been happening with the little man this past month... one thing has remained the same...HORSE! Horse is still Evan's favorite word! He says it all the time and loves to visit the horses throughout the day!
Evan also says mom-mom or momma a ton. He says it in his super cute little voice too! We are loving the little guy more and more and just adore him!
Dan has recently been required to take every other Friday off of work, so we are having Family Fun Friday's! We recently went bike riding at Irvine Park and downtown Long Beach (on the Sat.). Last Friday we celebrated Cow Appreciation Day and dressed up like cows. We got 3 free meals at Chick-fil-a, Breakfast, lunch and dinner. :) We did not pay for much on Friday. :)Who says we are to old to make our own fun. Dan and I laughed a ton on Friday.
On Friday we also went to the Wild Animal Park. We saw the cutest little baby Elephant. Evan called them Horses! Silly Kid!
Evan is trying to walk around with help too!
On the 4th of July we went to the Brea Country Fair. We entered Evan in the Republican Women's Beautiful Baby contest. Evan took 1st place in the 9-12 month olds. Evan thought that it would be fun to eat the trophy! Here is the link to the article in the local paper.

Evan's word of the week is Horse. It comes out like hhh-or-se. It's pretty cute. On Sunday he was sitting in his chair eating and turned around to glance at the bathroom window. He often does this to look for Peanuts the horse. Only this time he said "Horse". Dan and I looked at each other as if to say 'did he just say that?' He didn't stop. He continued to say it. We got him out of the chair and while Dan was holding him he continued to say horse. So Dan took Evan outside to see Peanuts. She wasn't cooperating too well, but Evan kept persisting with Horse! All week he has said Horse and Roll-ee of course. It's pretty cute. Whenever we get home he looks at the horse stall and says horse.
Evan's other new word is mom. :) Yaa!! He actually says mmmommma! He holds his m's. Once again his cutness has won me over. :)

Evan's vocabulary currently consists of...Daddy, ball, wawer (water), bir (bird), nana (banana), Roll-ee( rolly the dog), horse and mommma
Of course he only says the words when he wants to say the words, but he is pretty regular with DADDY, Roll-ee and Horse!

Evan is now 9 months and so much fun. He is so full of expression and energy. It is amazing to us how much he learns each day. It seems that we are constantly saying "He can do this today or that!"
Yesterday morning was one of those moments... I was sitting down taking care of something and Evan was playing with his toys. He started to CRAWL to the coffee table to get the coasters probably. I said, "Evan don't touch the coasters." He stopped and looked at me. I said, "Go play with your toys." He turned around and headed over to his toys. This happened a couple more times and each time he listened and went back to his toys! We have been working on Don't touch for quite some time....It was fun to see him get it.
While I was still sitting there he also crawled over to the couch, pulled himself up and played with a few pillows. It was fun to watch him explore the couch and calculate his adventure. He quickly went to the other end of the coffee table (where there are magazines and more coasters to get distracted with) and pulled himself up. Standing at the coffee table he reached for a few of his books and tossed them on the ground. He then laid down on the ground and flipped through the pages of the books numerous times. It was so cute to see him looking at the books. That just brought me huge smiles. I love those little moments. They make the times where he won't go to sleep all worth it! :)
We recently got back from a vacation too! We had a great time. I will have to post a few pictures soon!

Time continues to fly by! Evan is getting bigger and bigger. He is getting so active too! He rolls everywhere, scoots backwards and lunges forward. He may have even taken a couple of crawls forward recently. I bet he gets going really soon!
Evan has been teething like a mad man. His sad top gum is soo swollen. I thought for sure those teethers were going to come in soon, but sure enough he cut a tooth on the bottom! He now has three teeth on the bottom and what looks like a huge swollen top gum that is ready to cut four teeth any day! Which probably means that he is going to cut another tooth on the bottom too! Yikes! I may be in for it soon! He is so sad sometimes I wish they would just hurry up!
Other then the teeth we have been having fun with him! Evan went to his first Angels game last week. He is a great little fan! He was waving his arms and screeching with the rest of the fans. He wore his little red Angels onesie and Angels ball cap!
On Tuesday we went to the library and had story time with the other babies. It was a lot of fun. Evan was really interested in the other babies and enjoyed the singing and reading.
Last Friday we took him to the Wild Animal Park. Evan got to pet some little deer and goats in the petting area. He seemed to enjoy it. He really has taken well to animals. He loves dogs and cats, fish and ducks and seemed to like the petting area too! He has recently enjoyed feeding our horse Peanuts carrots and apples too! We took Evan to the butterfly exhibit. He didn't notice the butterfly that landed on his head, but he could track the other ones flying around.
Just when you think he can't get any more fun, he does!

7 Month Celebration!

Evan is now 7 months and 3 weeks, but here is the birthday bash! We had a little help this time. Evan smiled the first time we sang to him, but we forgot to hit record. The second time around was not so good... just watch for yourself.
Evan is definitley on the move more and more. He is scooting around and rolling all over the place. He often gets frustrated when he can't crawl to something. He's going to figure it out soon... We recently put up a swing in the backyard. He loves it! It's a favorite daily activity. We also got him a huge purchase, a blue ball for $1.79. He LOVES the ball! Probably one of the best purchases ever! I'm glad that this guy is easy to please. Other toys on the top of Evan's list would be sweatshirt strings, the brim of hats and telephones!
Other things that are going on....I have returned to the working world. Only per diem and only two shifts a week if they need me and only 5 hour shifts. I'm back at Yorba Linda PT. I guess they couldn't get rid of me. :) They are in need of some extra help and so it works out for now. The little man is hanging out with my mom and Uncle Ryan. He seems to be doing well with it and has been on his best behavior. :) I get choked up a bit when I leave and on my way to work, but I seem to be doing well when I'm there. I was pleasantly surprised when I remembered how to do everything. I feel like I just slipped right back in to things, so that was good.

Our little man is 7 months!! Wow! This week has been full of physical progress as well as some....learning. Evan is rolling from his back to his stomach and his stomach to his back! Evan loves to suck on his big toes, it's hilarious! He is also pushing off of anything and everything with his legs. His hair is getting thicker and longer too! He is still very much learning about food. One day he will take lots of bites of his food and the next time he will take zero! God is definitley teaching me patience. Although the food thing is frustrating at times, his smiles and giggles definitley make up for it. :)

It's hard to believe that Evan is already 6 Months! He is so much fun. He is playing more on his own and laughing and giggling a ton. At his recent doctors visit he was 17 lbs. and 28 inches long! His weight is in the 40th percentile and his height is in the 72nd percentile. He sat on the exam table and quickly attacked the paper. The doctor was very impressed with Evan's ability to sit on his own. He said that that does not usually happen until 7-8 months. Sitting up is actually Evan's preferred position.

We have had a lot going on lately. We went to Bakersfield to visit our friends the Franklin's and then Great Grandma Nielsen came out to visit. Evan has been pretty flexible despite his teething. His top teeth are what he is waiting for. He is so cute with his little bottom teeth.

Evan has now been sitting up on his own pretty well. He seems to like to sit up and play with his cars and things. Or sit up and eat things! Everything is in the mouth! This morning he sat up playing for quite a long time before he fell over!! All of a sudden he has made big leaps...two new teeth, rolling over, sitting up and of course tons of smiles, giggles and squeals along the way!

We are enjoying this little man a ton! He is almost 6 months! We will be starting cereal this Saturday!!

So maybe by the time Evan is one year old Dan and I will sound better...I hope! We have a ton of fun putting this guy in front of things and taking his picture. One day he will laugh at us.
Last night we went to a make up swim class. We had a different instructor. He was great with Evan! Evan felt pretty comfortable with John too. Evan was chewing on his shoulder at one point. Daddy, Grandma Kim and Grandma and Grandpa Randall all came to watch the little guy! They were pretty entertained. :) Thanks for coming to watch the little guy!

5 Months!

Yes I am finally updating my blog!! It has only been a month!! I can't believe it has taken me so long...time flies when you are taking care of a cute little guy. So much is going on!
Evan has started off the new year with a mommy and me swim class. He loves the water! It is fun to see him interact with the other kids and learn to kick his feet. He has already gone underwater and is learning how to hold his breath! He can do it! He hasn't cried yet. In fact he smiles and squeels! It is super cute!
This past week was a big one for Evan! He has figured out how to roll over! He is now constantly rolling over! He is so quick! Evan also has two little razor sharp teeth! They both broke through this last week! Crazy! The teeth have not been so fun to deal with. :( We are big fans of Hylands teething tablets!!
We are having tons of fun with this little guy! He is growing more and more all the time and becoming more and more active.

4 Months!

WOW! Our little man is already 4 months! He is so much fun and such a joy to us. Friday night we went and got our Christmas tree. Evan was the cutest little bundle out there. That was fun. We put up some decorations on Saturday and got the tree decked out. Evan seems to be pretty amused with the lights.
Evan recently had his 4 month check up. He is now 15lbs. 9oz. and 26inches long! The doctor was pleased with his progress. It was funny, when he was telling me the percentiles of his weight and height, his weight is in the 65th and his height is in the 90th, he looked at me and said,'Well we know that he doesn't get his height from you, :) but he has a tall dad.' I just laughed. It's the truest thing. The little man is doing well. :)

We are all very thankful to have a home and to be home. The fires came closer then ever before causing the whole neighborhood to evacuate. Fortunately or unfortunately for us we were away in Big Bear for the weekend. Although it was nice to get away and visit with family it was stressful when we heard of the fires. We watched the news for updates and Saturday evening Dan and his dad tried to get home to help out, but where not allowed to enter. We wound up staying in Oceanside until Tuesday. Yesterday our phone and internet came back on. The area is still only open to residents. The utility companies are working very hard to restore things to their previous state. The firemen are still present in our neighborhood.

On Saturday my dad didn't evacuate with my mom. He stayed and helped put out various fires in the neighborhood, including two that were on our property. We are thankful for his efforts. Thank you to all of you that offered your homes, food, prayers and help. We very much appreciate you.

Lots of Firsts

This past week was full of firsts for Evan! We had a very full week. It started off with Dan's birthday. We all went to Renaissance for Dinner last Sat. night. It was a good time. The musician wanted us to put Evan in the tip jar so that he could take him home to his wife. We weren't going for it. :)
My mom had her right knee replaced on Monday. It was the first time Evan has been to the hospital as a visitor. He did great all week. He knew that his job was to make Grandma smile. He had no problem doing that. :) He made all of the hospital staff smile too!
On Friday Evan had his first Halloween. He had lost of fun things to wear. Great Grandma Nielsen sent him a cute Halloween onesie and Pumpkin suit and Dan and I got him a little bear outfit. We thought that was appropriate since we call him our little bear. He was a pumpkin at the hospital and then wore the bear outfit around to the neighbors houses. Actually, there was only one neighbor home that we knew. But they loved seeing him.
That was a full week to wrap up October.

Evan is getting so big and is soo much fun! He is having fun playing with this play mat. He grabs at the rings and loves to look at himself in the mirror. He has started to scoot himself backwards on his back across the play mat. He has strong legs! Yesterday morning I put Evan on the play mat while I was taking care of something. After awhile I didn't hear him anymore. I looked over and he was asleep. It was so cute!
Evan has also been talking a ton. In the morning when he wakes up we have a conversation about how the day is going to go. It makes me smile. I will try to post one of our conversations.

Wow! Evan is already 2 months! He is so fun. He has been cooing a ton and holds his head up pretty well too! We recently had his 2 month check up . He is now 12 lbs. 9 oz. and 23 1/2 inches long. The doctor also looked at his mouth and told me that he will probably get his first tooth before 6 months. hmmm.... I don't know what to think of that. His daddy got his first tooth at 2 months!
Evan is also in cloth diapers now. Not only are they super soft, they are also pretty fashionable. He has such a cute bum in them. :) They are called Bum Genius. They are pretty easy to use and more economical in the long run.

I love my life. God is so good! Each day I am so amazed at God's goodness and mercy toward me. I am truly enjoying being home with Evan and am so thankful for a husband that works so hard to provide this. I am so blessed.

Evan has grown so much since my last post. He is getting quite the chubby checks. He has become more aware and alert. He is smiling more and more too! He is such a joy!

In the mean time he has had many firsts. We spent the last two weekends down in Oceanside. Evan has ridden the train twice, gone to the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, the Beach and to Cabrillo National Monument. He also met his Great Aunt Dawn from Michigan. Evan did great! He slept a lot, which was not a surprise to us. But also put up with us putting him in random places for cute pictures. I will upload pictures soon to our web album.

Today we took Evan in the Spa for his first swim. He loved it! We thought he might because he likes to take baths. We would support his head with one hand and he would float and kick. He was totally content the entire time. :) See our picasa album for more pictures.

Sept. 1st

Wow! Evan is already 1 month old. We are enjoying each day with the little guy. He is acting more alert each day and grabbing things too. He found my dad's mustache the other day.
Today we went to get a weight check and Evan weighed 9lbs. 4oz.! He is definitley thriving! Dan and I knew that he was getting heavier, but we thought he was maybe 8lbs.

It's amazing how quickly your day goes by when caring for a baby. He eats a lot! Evan is doing well. He is really a content little boy. We love him a ton and are enjoying our new addition. It's amazing how something that small can have everyone transfixed for so long. Evan is 1 week old today! It is crazy how things have just happened, time has flown by and wow, we are now holding our baby. God has blessed us so much. This little man is so perfect and so perfectly made. How can anyone doubt that there is a God?! It's amazing how something so small can affect your heart in such a huge way!

Many of you don't know how things went at the end of my pregnancy and I certainly haven't had the time to talk to many of you. Sorry! I've been a bit busy. :) Well, I thought that I would share some of it with you...
I was due July 30th. July 31st I had a routine appointment with my midwife. Upon leaving we scheduled an appointment at the hospital for the following Wednesday, August 6th. Then they took my blood pressure 3 times! It did not go down, it was around 150/90-100. This was very abnormal for me. So I was advised to go home, get my stuff, get my husband and go to Labor and Delivery. Dan and I went to L and D triage. I was monitored for about 30-40 minutes. My blood pressure was going down, so Dan and I were making dinner plans. The MD came in and told me that my blood work was abnormal. It showed that my liver and kidney's were over functioning due to the high blood pressure. This meant that they were going to induce because if those organs were affected what organs would be next and if it affected the placenta the baby would be at risk. In addition the blood pressure put me at risk for seizures, which put Evan at risk and could lead to an emergency c-section.
I was taken to a L and D room were I was put on pitocin. (about 8ish) They quickly found that my blood pressure remained low only when I laid on my left side. So they put me on magnesium sulfate to reduce the blood pressure and reduce the seizure risk. Whenever I sat up or even laid on my right side my blood pressure rose. About 11pm they broke my water. By 3:30am I had had enough with dealing with the pain. I could no longer cope with the contractions. Mainly because I couldn't move around much when I had a contraction. I wouldn't recommend the left side only position. I soon received an epidural and began to relax. At some point a MD came in and put Evan on an internal monitor and put more fluid back into the amniotic sack because Evan's heart rate was getting to low at certain points of my contractions. By 7:30am I was dilated to 8.5-9 cm. 9am I was checked and ready to push. I did not use the epidural anymore then what they were already giving me when I began to push because I wanted to feel the pushing. And I did! Dan and one nurse helped me push for about an hour or so. When Evan was coming out he propelled most of himself out and did a 360 turn. He was ready to come out!
I was kept on the magnesium sulfate for 24 hours after delivery. The risk of seizure is still high during that point. I also had to lay on my left side for the rest of Friday because my bp was not going down. :( Dan was amazing and went everywhere with Evan and took care of him! The magnesium sulfate caused me to retain an incredible amount of fluid! I looked like I had 2-3 chins. My face never retained water throughout my pregnancy, so that was weird. The water retention also affected me being able to feed Evan. :( That was frustrating, but with the help of some professionals Saturday and this week we are doing well. Despite the obstacles Evan had only lost 4 oz by Tuesday and was 1 oz shy of his birth weight on Thursday. That was very encouraging. We have been working very hard.
Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us, visited us, brought us food and goodies, flowers, taken pictures and given us massages. Thank you so much for all the love! We are blessed beyond our comprehension. Thank you!

2 days until D Day

Well, last Thursday I had my midwife appointment and there was no change. The little boys head is not engaged, so there isn't going to be any change with my dilation until it is. So who knows when he will arrive. I did experience some cramping and discomfort a little bit last night, so maybe something was going on. I may be a bit hopeful. If he is still not born by this Thursday, then I will have my midwife appointment. That will be the last time I will see her. At that appointment they will schedule an appointment for the following week at the hospital. There they will check me and the baby and decide what to do. They won't let me go much longer then that. So no matter what we will see our little guy some time with in the next two weeks. :)

I am excited to hold him, see what he looks like and start learning about this little guy. I think I will actually miss being pregnant. For the most part my pregnancy has gone super well and it's been fine. I count it all a blessing from the Lord.

38 weeks

Yesterday I had my midwife appointment. Evan's heartbeat is good and consistent. This time she actually 'measured' me to see how far along I am. Well, I'm already dilated to 2cm and am effaced 70%. (I hope this is appropriate to put on the blog.) She is hopeful that Evan will arrive before or on his due date. WOW! I believe today marks 12 more days to go. Oh, my goodness. He could be here any day now. Things are going really well and she was very happy with the progress. My next midwife appointment is next week Thursday.

What a Surprise!!

This past weekend was very full and eventful! When Dan and I arrived at his parents house there was a house full of women for a surprise baby shower! I was definitely surprised and in shock! The shower was beautiful and it was great to see so many people that I hadn't seen for a while. The food was great too! Once again we were completely spoiled and are completely blessed. I am continually amazed at the generosity and thoughtfulness of others. I am very thankful. I will post some pictures after I get some this weekend.

Last Day of Work

Well yesterday was my last day of work. How weird! I've worked at YLPT for over three years and have loved it! I remember when I was hired, Rob asked me what I wanted to do, go back to school, get a masters degree, get another certification...My response was that I wanted to be a mom. And here I am. He was completely okay with the response. Having two kids of his own, family is very important. He figured that with Dan finishing up school he would have me around for about a year or so. Over three years later we've made the big step. When I started working there I thought yea I want to be a mom one day, but I love this job. How will I ever leave it! Over the years God has worked in my heart and has shown me what is more important to me. I will always love that job, I worked for two great physical therapists. But family is more important. It is just so hard for me to believe that Evan is due in 19 days, could arrive sooner or later, but soon, very soon I will be taking on a whole new line of work. Wow!
The hardest part about leaving YLPT is not being able to talk about life and patient care with Rob and Kris. I'm going to miss those guys. The patients too! I loved the interaction with the patients and I loved being a part of getting them better. I will have a new family member now that I will take care of. Thankfully Dan and I do live so close to the office and they said that I better stop by. Of course I will. I'm sure in a few days or weeks it will really hit me that I'm not working there and I'll break down. So far I've just managed to have the watery eyes. All this change is hard on an emotional pregnant woman.

Well, tonight after Dan gets off work we are going down to Oceanside to spend some time with his family for the weekend. That should be fun. :) We are going to the Zoo at Night on Sat. Night. I love the Zoo. I'm excited about that.

37 Weeks

Today marks 37 weeks down. It is hard to believe that little Evan may arrive at any time now. There is definitely part of me that is excited to see him and meet him, but another part that is not ready for him to come. I have some things around the house that I would like to get organized first and get some odds and ends done. I know that when he comes is not up to me though. It's all in God's perfect timing. :)

I had a pretty routine visit with the midwife yesterday. Evan's heartbeat was normal, 150 bpm. Next week they will check to see how far along I am. That should be fun. :o Today Dan and I met with Dr. Lamb, a pediatrician. With Kaiser, they allow you to make appointments with pediatricians before the baby is born. It is kind of like an interview. Dan and I were very pleased with the appointment. He thoroughly answered all of our questions, asked us some questions and even gave us more info. I know that I will be very comfortable bringing the little guy to see him. He is also available by phone and email. I like the convenience.

Things are going well, Evan's room is coming together and we are just preparing for the arrival. Tomorrow is my last day of work. It is very surreal. I have worked there for over three years and have loved my job. This week has already been difficult saying good-bye to patients. I know that my body is physically ready to be done with work, but mentally it will be difficult. I'm closing the door to this chapter of my life and getting even closer to motherhood. This is what Dan and I have longed for and are so excited about, but it doesn't make change any easier. Tomorrow will be a tough day.

The little guy finally has a name! We really thought that we wouldn't name him until he came out, but we kept finding ourselves agreeing on one name, in a round about sort of way. It just took awhile to finally commit to it. His name is Evan William Nielsen. William is the same middle name as his daddy and his Grandpa Nielsen's first name. We just like the name Evan. It means young warrior and is Irish too, like his momma.

The nursery is coming along...My friend Meggin painted the wall behind the crib to match the bedding. It is sooo cute! She did an amazing job. I am continually in awe of how well she matched the colors and made the animals look so much like the bedding! The monkey looks better then the monkey in the bedding. She knew I didn't care for the white monkey, so she came up with a super fun monkey. Thanks Meg for all of your time and effort. We love it!

Family Baby Shower

On Saturday I was showered with blessings from our family and close family friends. The shower was beautiful. There was china, tea sandwiches, tiny quiche, tables with umbrellas, lots of cupcakes and lots of chatter and laughter. It was a great day! Thank you Mom and Mary for planning such a wonderful party! :) And thanks to everyone that helped make the day go off without a hitch! We are so blessed to be loved so much. We received so many great things that we need and such great clothes! I can't wait to see our little guy in the outfits! God has abundantly provided for our needs. We are so thankful for each and every one of you that has blessed us and our new little one.

The pregnancy is still going really well. I have been so blessed. I am having more swelling in my hands and feet, but all seems to be normal. Friday was supposed to be my last day of work as many of you know, but it seems that I will be working until the 10th. I have two more 15 hour work weeks. Not to bad. It still seems surreal. I can't believe that I'm winding down at work and going to be having a BABY!! WOW! I am going through so much change right now. It is crazy.

I am looking forward to this coming weekend. Dan and I are going away to a bed and breakfast in Pasadena from July 3rd-5th. Our last get away before the baby arrives and to celebrate our anniversary. I'm looking forward to visiting the Huntington Library also.

It's been awhile since I updated the blog...sorry! A few things have been happening. I was in another wedding and I've been working working working. Therefore I have been pretty exhausted. The Sunday after the last wedding I spent the whole day at home and the majority of it sleeping! I was pooped! My feet are definitely starting to swell more, so that is limiting my activity a bit and just uncomfortable by the end of the day. It is all worth it though. And really if that is all I have to deal with then I am more then blessed!

A few weeks ago I went to see my mid-wife and when she measured me I was 2 cm smaller then I was supposed to be. However she said that consistently I had been measuring a cm smaller then the norm. She said that if next time she measured me and the trend had continued I would be sent for an ultrasound. Well, I had my appointment this week and I had grown. Not a surprise to the world around me. :) I was still measuring a cm smaller then the norm, but consistent with all my measurements. She is not concerned at all. She says that I am small and that I'll most likely just have a small baby. Dan and I were only 6lbs. and some change when we were born. So it is very likely that this guy will be about the same.
It is so fun to feel him move and feel where he is. I am constantly amazed at our God and his creation!

Wow! A little less than 9 more weeks to go. It is so crazy! People tell me all the time that I'm too small to be that far along, but I sure don't feel too small. I'll try to get Dan to take a good picture of the "baby" this weekend to show you all. Things are going great still! My feet are starting to swell and I can't wear my wedding ring anymore, but that is really it. Besides the very normal awkwardness and waddling at times. :) The baby's heart rate is good and I feel him very often. We went to see Indian Jones yesterday and he was very active during the movie.

Last week my office threw us a shower. It was very nice! Dan and I had a great time visiting with everyone. We also ate some really good food too! Not to mention that they are all very generous! Thank you! We got some great practical items like the pack and play, floppy seat( for grocery carts and high chairs), a tummy time mat, and thermometer; as well as some super cute outfits! Thank you so much to everyone for our thoughtfulness!

Our next Midwife appointment is Tuesday. I see her every other week until the beginning of July. Then it is once a week. It's so exciting.

It's hard to believe that we are already 7 months! I am now seeing the doctor every other week. I had my first 3rd trimester appointment last week and had some lab work done. After multiple blood draws, 2 glucose drinks and atleast 4 hours of fasting I only need to take iron twice a day. That is in addition to the prenatal vitamins I am already taking. All is good with me and the baby. We are very thankful that everything is going so well.

On Saturday we had another ultrasound with both of our families! It was a great mothers day gift! :) It was lots of fun to see the little guy again. He has gotten so big! There are a few 2D ultrasound pics that I don't have on the computer yet, but I will try to get them up this week. They are super cute! For now, I have the 3D/4D pics that were taken. We also have a 20 minute DVD of the entire ultrasound session. I'm going to try to figure out a way to get a little clip up on the blog. Grandpa Bill says it's possible. I'll work on it this week in between working and napping. :)

100 Days and Counting....

It's hard to believe that there are less then 100 days until we meet this little guy. Pregnancy is still going well. My tiredness comes in spurts or should I say growth spurts. Whenever we are growing I am soo tired. Work seems to be going well too. It's keeping me active, which is a good thing.
This past Saturday, Dan, Ryan and my Dad worked in the baby's room. It's walls are freshly painted with a beige color and white trim. When it's finished I'll post a picture or two. After painting we went to Simi Valley for my cousin Tony's wedding. The wedding was beautiful and it was a good time with the family. Above are a few pictures from the wedding.

New Due Date

This past Thursday evening we had our second birthing class. We are learning a lot about laboring and some good relaxation techniques also. I've been taking my swissball to class and have learned some good comfortable positions and stretches to use even now. So far its been worth our time.

Before we got to the class I had my regular check up with the Midwife. This time we went over my last blood work and the ultrasound I had on March 11th. Everything is going great! They could see all the chambers of his heart, all his organs, his spine and the right amount of amniotic fluid. Then he weighed 11 oz. also. The interesting thing is that the ultrasound showed that the baby and my uterus were 7-9 days farther ahead then we originally thought. If it was only a couple of days they wouldn't have changed the due date, but since it is obviously more than that I now have a new due date.... July 30th. That just so happens to be my mom's birthday. We'll see what happens. So on Thursday I went from being 22 weeks along to being 23 weeks along. I know that it just changed by a week, but it makes me feel as if the baby is coming so much sooner! The sound of August seemed farther away then July. None the less we are super excited to hear that all is well with our little guy. We praise God and continue to thank Him for this amazing blessing and miracle.

I'm just now putting this update on the blog because I was super exhausted Thursday evening after our class and worked all day yesterday. By the end of the week I'm pooped! Yea for weekends!!

As of Now...

Dan and I have started our birthing classes. Our next one is Thursday evening. It seems like it will be a pretty informative and hands on class. The teacher is a bit crazy but definitley keeps your attention. Which is a good thing when you've been at work all day and then have to sit through at 2 1/2-3 hour class! I think we'll learn a lot of practical things for labor. My first thoughts were that I wanted to learn other techniques besides lamaze and thankfully this teacher is teaching us a bunch of different things not just lamaze. That's good. :)

On Thursday we also have our next appointment with our Midwife. As always we are excited to hear the heartbeat again! That is so amazing! The little guy's movements are becoming more and more noticeable. I can't wait until Dan can feel him.

The pregnancy is going well. I still need lots of sleep and sometimes it's hard to come by. I've been having a hard time sleeping. So last night I got the Snoogle pillow. Dan wants to give it a name because it is rather large and takes up a lot of room in our bed. I will say that I slept really well last night! I didn't even get up in the middle of the night. Just the way I like to sleep! I'm pretty excited about my new pillow. I was also having a tough time with my allergies. But for some random reason they have calmed down. I haven't been taking anything either. I'm very thankful. I was pretty miserable sneezing all the time! Now I have an occasional itchy throat. I can deal with that. I'm starting to sound less congested also, which is a plus. I was beginning to think that this could be a really long three months of allergies. I will continue to pray that things go well and give thanks to the Lord for my improved state. :)

The little Kicker

On Monday evening Dan and I went to the hospital for a tour. We sat and listened to a very long lecture for about 1 1/2 hours first! Then they took us around the hospital so that we could see all the rooms we will be in and the process of our admittance into the hospital. It was informative and another little step to make things feel more real. It was good to help relieve a little of my anxiety too!

I've been feeling the baby kick more and more too! It's not that often, usually when I'm lying still or sitting and trying to pay attention to someone speaking. It's so amazing! It's fun to feel him. It always reminds me of God's goodness to us and that we are so blessed!

IT'S A BOY!

This evening we had our big ultrasound. We got to see lots of fingers and toes! It was very exciting! The baby even gave us a big yawn. The technician was over 90% sure that it is a boy! I guess we better get working on those boy names.
It was so neat to see the baby move around inside of Aimee. When we went to dinner afterwards the lady looked at the pictures and said, "That's why we should believe in God." It is an amazing miracle.
We are super excited!

3rd Visit

Last night we had our third visit with our midwife. Everything is going well. It was good to hear the baby's heartbeat again. I had missed it. Each time she would find the heartbeat, the baby would quickly move. The baby was being very active. Dan thinks that is a sign of a little boy. We will see in less than a week! I'm so excited for the 11th!
I've had more energy lately, so that is good. I'm also able to continue with my regular exercise routine. I have had to put that on the back burner lately as work has taken most of my energy. Oh, and I do get to go get some very fashionable compression stockings for work. That should be fun.

Getting Excited!

It's been awhile since I have written a post. As March 4th and 11th draw near I get more and more excited. Dan and I are trying to patiently await the news if the baby is a boy or a girl. We are soo excited to find out. We will find out on the 11th. On the 4th we will have our 3rd routine check-up. I can't wait to hear the heartbeat again. It seems like so long since I have been able to see or hear the baby. I can't wait to make that connection again. I have been noticing a lot of growth, atleast a lot of growing pains. Dan and I can for sure tell that I'm pregnant and I feel as if any day the world around will know too!

I love to post pictures, but often don't have any new ones. So I thought I would share the pictures of when we told our families about our new little addition. We had cookies made with each of their respective names on them. And told them that we had cookies with their names on it. Some were speechless and some were crying, but overall they seemed pretty excited. You will notice that my dad is missing from the pictures. I can't figure out if he ate his cookie first or was just being camera shy. They are all thinking about what names they want to be called, ie grandpa, pops, grandma, nana......and so on. :)

Big Ultrasound Date

The appointment has been made. On March 11th we will have our big ultrasound. This is when we will get to find out if we are having a boy or a girl. As long as the baby is cooperating. We are pretty excited about that!

I would have gotten on top of making the appointment sooner and posting the date, but I've been very much under the weather. Word of advice to all pregnant women, don't get a cold. It's hard to recover. There is not much you can do when you are pregnant and sick. Thankfully I have a wonderful husband who has taken very good care of me and I am now on the mend. Each day I'm doing a bit better then the last. : )

2nd Appointment

Last night we had our second appointment with our Midwife. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat! Amazing! Each step continues to make it more and more real. Everything is going well and the baby is beating right on track. Our next appointment is March 4th. I will also be scheduling an appointment for sometime in March to have our big ultrasound. This is when we will get to see all the body parts and find out if it is a boy or a girl. :)

Many of you may notice that there is no beard in the picture. The other night Dan came home with a haircut and clean shave. Me in my emotional state started to cry. I'm soo happy to see his face. :)

So Much Going On...

WOW, so much has happened since I last wrote. I have gone almost a full week of being nausea free!! Yahoo! That's huge. I'm feeling great. Still tired here and there, but that is to be expected. Especially with a little baby under construction in there!
Last Thursday, January 24th marked the end of the 1st Trimester! WOW it has gone soo fast! I can't believe it. It seems like I just found out that I was pregnant. This Thursday I have my second visit with the midwife. We are excited to get to hear the baby's heart beat. Amazing! What a miracle, a blessing from God.

In addition to all these fun things I started back to work today. I have been out on leave since Oct. 19th. I injured the joint capsules in two of my toes in both feet. Although the injury happened almost a year ago I received a series of inappropriate care for months, which in turn set me back. It wasn't until October that I got a second opinion and received the care that I needed. I rest assured that all the events that occurred happened for a reason. I know that God has been in control. Why I had to deal with the first doctor I do not know and may never know, but I am thankful now for where I am. I am very thankful for a doctor that has made my healing a top priority. Under her care I started healing after 2 1/2 weeks of being off work! Although I missed the patient interaction and my coworkers while I was off, I see how God used this time to show me and teach me what it will be like to be at home full time. :)
Needless to say I am thankful to be back at work and blessed by the opportunity to wrap up this chapter of my life. I have loved working at YLPT and know that I will miss being their. But I am super excited that our family is growing and that God has seen fit to bless us with a child. I know that this will be the most rewarding, challenging and blessed time of my life. Lord willing I will be working for five more months, after which I will rest and then have the baby in August. So, today was my first day back. It went really well. For the most part I felt as if I hadn't left. I got to tell my coworkers the fun new. It was a shock to some more then others, but it went well. It was good to see that I hadn't forgotten anything and that they didn't think that I had either. :) It was a good day. :)

Overwhelmed

I've had requests to write more frequently, but have been nausious or not sure as to what to write. But yesterday and today I have felt pretty well. It's amazing. I'm not so sure that the nausea is really gone, but I'll take the two days without the nausea. What a blessing! So I will try to write more frequently now that I'm feeling better.

I know that there are so many of you out there that probably have lots of good advice and Dan and I are at the overwhelmed stage, so I thought that I would use the blog as a way to learn new things!

Getting Back On Track

Far before I was pregnant I would try to eat well balanced meals and workout regularly. However the past few weeks have been pretty tough on me, as the nausea has picked up. I was pretty nauseous in the morning and sometimes all day! So a lot of food didn't sound good and pretty much sleep sounded the best. I can't get over how tired I am! I want to take a nap all the time. I usually need 9-11 hours of sleep a night. It's crazy! It's amazing how much rest I need to make such a little baby. The baby is about an inch long.

This week I have been really trying to eat well balanced meals and get back to the gym. I have gone to the gym twice this week. I've done 40 minutes of cardio and weights each time. I'm usually pooped when I'm done, but usually feel far better then when I started. I will finish the week off with another workout on Friday. I plan to keep this up throughout the pregnancy. Energy permitting. :)

Our 1st Appointment 1/2/2008

This morning we had our first appointment with our midwife. The appointment went pretty well. It is so amazing that we can see our baby! We could even see the heart flicker on the screen as it was beating! Amazing! The first picture shows the side view of the baby, you can see the head at the top and the little feet buds at the bottom. The bottom picture shows a front view. You can see the head at the top, little arm buds and feet buds at the bottom. You can click on the pictures to see an enlarged view.

Our due date is August 7th, 2008! Give or take a week. Our next visit will be in 4 weeks, Jan. 31, 2008. Then we will get to hear the baby's heart beat.
For now my job is to get lots of rest, eat lots of calcium and folate, exercise and withstand the nausea. :)

It is amazing to me that God knows this baby so intricately. God knows this baby's life, every day, every purpose and even it's name. All before we do! God knew the perfect timing of this perfect child, created by Him. I am in awe of my God and my creator. He is worthy to be praised for this amazing miracle.

I wanted to give you a starting reference! Although this picture was taken about 40 days ago there is no obvious change to the outward appearance of my body. I have had my share of nausea, so the pregnancy is becoming more real.
(We tried to upload pictures from Christmas, but they kept uploading sideways. Hopefully I'll figure out how to fix that. :)
In a few days we will get to go to our first Dr.'s appointment!

My first prenatal visit was originally scheduled for Dec. 28th, but was cancelled last Friday. I was able to get a new appointment today for Jan. 2nd. The appointment will be closer to home and Dan's office, so he can come with me. :)

We received our first baby toys this week. We got two stuffed animals. A super cute musical giraffe and a super cuddly teddy bear. So Fun!

We are so excited to be expecting a little one. We have been blessed and we praise God for this new life. We hope that this Blog will be a way that all of you can watch us grow over the next 9 months. We will try to keep you up to date with doctor appointments and other fun things!
Currently my first doctors visit is the Friday after Christmas. We'll let you know what happens! :)

How is the mommy to be feeling: super tired! Other then that just excited!
